Estimate, not a quote

$4,600 to $5,850

Vinyl fence, 6 ft, 150 ft$4,500 to $5,700
City of Cape Coral permit$107 to $110

This is a rough estimate, not a quote. Your final price depends on a site visit, City of Cape Coral permits, and the materials you choose. Canal lots, HOA rules, gates, and removal can change the price.

How to use it

  1. Linear feet. Enter the total length of fence. Pace it off or measure along the line. Don't subtract gate openings.
  2. Material. Pick vinyl, aluminum, chain link or wood.
  3. Height. Pick a height. The choices change with the material. Wood at 4 ft and aluminum at 6 ft show "Call for this height" instead of a range. For those, call (239) 341-6184.
  4. Gates. Add walk gates and drive (double) gates. Drive gates are manual. Automatic openers aren't included.
  5. Remove old fence. Turn this on if an old fence has to come out first.
  6. Pool barrier. Turn this on if the fence is a pool barrier. Your walk gates switch to pool-code gates.
  7. Coastal hardware upgrade. Heavier, salt-resistant hinges and latches for gates on canal lots.
  8. Wind reinforcement allowance. Extra concrete, deeper posts, or other reinforcement.

You get a line-by-line range for the fence, gates, removal, permit and add-ons, then a total range. Every result is marked Estimate, not a quote.

What moves the price

  • Material. Vinyl, aluminum, chain link and wood each price differently.
  • Length. The more feet, the higher the total.
  • Height. A 6 ft fence uses more material than a 4 ft one. City code caps residential fences at 6 ft.
  • Gates. Every gate adds to the job. Drive gates more than walk gates. Pool-code gates have to be self-closing and self-latching.
  • Removal. Taking out an old fence adds a per-foot cost.
  • Permit. The City of Cape Coral charges a set fee for a residential fence permit, and it's built into every range.
  • Canal lots. The rear 20 ft must be open mesh above 3 ft, which can change the material for that stretch. Salt air may call for coastal hardware.
  • HOA rules. Some communities limit colors, styles or heights.
  • Lot conditions. Easements, wind exposure and what's in the ground affect posts and labor.
