Cape Coral Fence Repair and Storm Damage

Fence leaning, a panel down, or a gate that won't latch? Most of that can be fixed without a whole new fence.

We repair vinyl, aluminum, chain link and wood. Call (239) 341-6184 and tell us what you're seeing.

What breaks

  • Posts. A leaning or snapped post pulls the whole section with it.
  • Vinyl panels. Cracked or blown out of the rails.
  • Wood boards. Split, loose, or rotted at the bottom.
  • Chain link fabric. Torn, bent, or pulled off the posts.
  • Aluminum sections. Bent pickets or rails.
  • Gates. Sagging, dragging, broken hinges, or a latch that won't catch.

Storm damage

Hurricane Ian made landfall on Cayo Costa on Sep 28, 2022, as a Category 4. The National Hurricane Center put peak flooding at 6 to 9 ft above ground in Pine Island and Cape Coral. In Lee County, 5,369 structures were destroyed.

Wind and water are hard on fences. After a storm, the usual damage is leaning posts, panels out, and gates that no longer close. We look at what's left and tell you what can be saved.

Repair or replace?

It comes down to how much of the line is damaged, how old the fence is, and whether the posts are still solid. A few bad sections usually make sense to repair. When most of the fence is down, replacing it can make more sense. We go over both with you. If you're leaning toward a new fence, the fence cost calculator gives a rough estimate.

The City repair permit

The City of Cape Coral has a repair and replace-in-place permit for residential fences.

  • The original fence must have been permitted.
  • You can change the material when you replace it. A wood fence can come back as vinyl, for example.

Pool fence down?

If a storm takes out your pool barrier, City pool rules call for a temporary 4 ft mesh barrier within 10 days of the hurricane. It can stay up to 90 days while the permanent fence is repaired. Tell us it's a pool fence when you call.
